Carl Barker, Founder
Carl Barker, former APDA State of Maine, Chapter President, was instrumental in the opening of the Information & Referral Center and it's collaborative efforts of a three-way partnership between MaineHealth , the Maine Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), and the Maine Parkinson Society.
As an expression of his love and devotion for his late wife Nancy Barker, who lived with Parkinson's disease for over 20 years. Carl has helped many people in Maine live well with Parkinson's disease.
Edward Drasby, D.O., APDA Medical Director
Dr. Edward Drasby of Port City Neurology has been appointed the Medical Director, effective February 2008. The I&R Center welcomes Dr. Drasby as Maine's a leading Movement Disorder Specialist and dedicated credentials through membership on several leading medical societies and councils that will help to advance the Parkinson's Information & Referral Center as resource center of excellence.
Mary Sontz, APDA State of Maine, Chapter President
Diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease, Mary faced her challenges through her Support Group Leadership in the Greater Portland area and weekly Parkinson's exercise group. Appointed Chapter President in June 2008, Mary brings strong leadership and tremendous support to the Parkinson's community of Maine.
Lillian Scenna, BS, LSW, Program Manager
Lillian has been the Program Manager of the Parkinson's Information & Referral Center since 2001. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services from Boston State College and is a licensed social worker. Lillian is responsible for all operational aspects of the Center and provides reference information and assistance to consumers, patients and health care providers.
William Allen, Administrative Associate
When you call the Parkinson's Information & Referral Center, William "Bill" is the person behind the warm, friendly voice you hear. Bill joined MaineHealth in the Winter of 2008 as the Administrative Associate for the MaineHealth Learning Resource Centers as well as the Parkinson's Information & Referral Center.
Brian Miller, Student Intern
Brian comes to the Parkinson's Information & Referral Center as a BSW student from the University of Southern Maine. Having begun his internship in September 2008, Brian brings strong attentiveness and positive energy to his learning experience at the Center.
OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

MaineHealth is a non-profit integrated health care delivery system serving southern, central and western Maine. Its member and affiliate organization include leading hospitals, surgical centers, home health agencies, specialists, diagnostic centers and primary care physicians. MaineHealth has developed three Learning Resource Centers (LRCs) for the purpose of providing health education and information to the public. The Parkinson's Information and Referral Center is housed within the Learning Resource Center located in Falmouth.

The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is a national organization, founded in 1961 to "Ease the Burden and Find the Cure" for Parkinson's disease. Headquartered in Staten Island, New York, the organization focuses its efforts on research, patient support, education and raising public awareness about the disease. The APDA national office coordinates the efforts of Chapters and Information and Referral Centers across the nation. The APDA Scientific Advisory Board annually reviews grant applications and recommends funding for research which shows promise for new breakthroughs and improved Parkinson's disease treatments.

The Maine Parkinson Society
is a non-profit organization founded to improve quality of life for people in Maine who have Parkinson's disease. In collaboration with the Maine Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association, the Maine Parkinson's Society offers services and specialized programs in Maine.
